Thanks

A special thanks to all those who have helped me to get The lap band. April thanks for getting a kick butt job that payed for 85% and TO 2 other people that follow this blog, and you know who you are; thank you for your generous donation to the lap band fund. I am starting a Fund to help others who want the lap band but cant afford it. Its the beginings of my Non profit organization. I haven't decided on a name but I am thinking like "Furry of the Fat Guy" or "Putting Buffets Out of Business One Band at a Time" I dont know its a work in progress. I am taking suggestions.

woo hoo

I have been on a 700 calorie diet for 2 weeks now and I have lost right at 30 pounds its pretty amazing that a person can lose 2 pounds a day. I guess the doctor knew what he was doing putting me on this horrid god awful diet.
on another topic I called insurance and they said they never recievied anything. I instantly called the doctor and to make a long story short 3 weeks ago when they called in they were given the wrong fax number. However, insurance called for extra paperwork so it didnt make any sense. So 3 weeks of waiting was just pointless. But monday the 17th of november I find out if insurance is going to kill me or let me live longer.

long beginings

I began this life big. When I was grunted out I weighed almost 10 pounds. I have averaged about 20 pounds of weight gain per year since then. once I tipped the scales at over 500 pounds I freaked out and started looking for a real solution because I had failed at every diet I have ever been on and the doctors took away my phen phen. I have been trying to get the lap band for 6 years. I know a number of people who have had it but it has eluded me for 6 years. Sometimes I feel like Odyseus, who always wanted to get home but seemed content staying on his island with Calypso getting it on. And like him atleast i have been able to have a long standing love affair with food. My wife got a job about a year ago with a company that has killer insurance through Anthem BCBS (NV) ppo. They cover the lap band.
i started with a place called the New U in Idahofalls and I wasnt impressed. you couldnt get anyone to answer the phone and getting an apointment was 2 months out, they required a sleep study and it just seemed like it could cost a small fortune with or without insurance. I went to one of their required seminars and over heard them talking trash about those in attendance afterwards when I was filling out my paper work. naturally I decided to go with someone else. Bingham county has a doctor fresh out of a prestigous fellowship at yale for bariatric and general surgery his name is Anthony K Davis MD. After meeting with his team and being able to do all of my apointments in 1 day i have to say the newu was such a waste of time. I saw a psycologist, dietition, exercise physiologist, and the doctor all in the same day. That same day I also was able to get all the lab work done as well. Dr Davis is one of the most real doctors I have ever met. His one on one time with me and my wife was amazing it was like we were all he cared about for 2 hours. I dont know anywhere else where you get that kind of doctor. I had an abnormal Ekg a right bunndle branch block so I had to see another doctor to rule out any problems. After an echo cardiogram we found out that everything is cool I am cleared medically to have the surgery. However, the doctor said he wanted me to lose 50 pounds before he would do it. honestly I was a little bummed because I had gone into my apointment having lost 43 pounds so to think I have to lose another 50 is overwhealming. To get to this goal fast I was put on a 700 calorie low carb diet. this is the diet they use to shrink the liver 2 weeks pre op but I have to be on it 6 weeks. so the rest of the blogs from here on out are all about me complaining about the diet and writing about what happens with insurance and getting the surgery done. so far I have done good on this diet I cracked once and ate some pizza but other than that its do able.
